Why mobile version is slower than desktop?

By Aibek M., 7 May 2021

If you have a website and you are engaged in e-commerce, in other words, you want to sell goods and services, then one of the priority tasks is to optimize the site for mobile devices.

Today, 51.3% of all Internet usage is mobile. And this number will grow.

That is why we recommend that you pay attention to the mobile version of your store.

If your site loads for more than 3 seconds, you are already in a losing position.

Many of you may have noticed a big difference between the mobile and desktop versions of your stores.

So why there is a huge difference in results?

Main factors are:

  1. Mobile processors are slower
  2. PageSpeed Insights stimulates the cell network at a slower speed
  3. Have a specific CSS styles (different image sizes, viewport etc.)

Mobile browsers work differently than desktop browsers. They also have slower processors and less reliable connections.

The mobile version is, in fact, a full-fledged separate site with its own layout, designed for small narrow screens. It has a separate link, most often the letter m or the word mobile is added to the address of the main site. Sometimes mobile versions differ significantly from desktop versions in their structure, functionality, and content: they leave what is important and necessary for smartphone users.

As Leonardo da Vinci said: "Simplicity is the basis of refinement."

And now, 500 years later, these words are still relevant. Look around you: the simple design of the future has replaced the complex and pretentious design of the past. This also applies to sites, especially mobile sites.

Remember that when it comes to a mobile site, every second counts, and every second saved allows you to get one step closer to making your audience happy and your conversion rate high!
